I started Insight Customs back in 2000 when I bought my first Yamaha Roadstar. I did the typical ride it for a month and then started changing the look of the bike and buying parts (that were very limited at that time) to make it my bike. In 2001 I built my first custom on that bike and named it "TAUNT"(this is the blue bike on the bikes page of the site).
It got that name because everywhere we went people who rode other brands always thought it was a Harley until they were about 10 feet away and saw that motor, some even went as far as asking where I got the cool pushrod tube covers.

In 2002 we took the bike to Daytona and took an award at a bike show held by Star Touring. On that trip I also ran into someone who had a major impact on my path. His name is Ralph and was a driver for Barons Customs. He invited us to come out and hang with the crew the next day and do some riding. That day would change my life and set me on the path i follow until this day. I was a small player and these guys invited me in like a old friend they haven't seen in a while. John "the Baron", Tim and Ralph are still my friends to this day and are players in a lot I do with this company. I decided to make Insight Customs a full fledged company this year and we incorperated. Now we can go to these industry shows to see all the new stuff for the bikes we love and bring them to our customers.
2003 brought the development of the Gut-ya Bike and all the parts that we now make. It took 1 year to complete and we froze our butts off in my 20x20 garage building it. This bike was a platform for us to show what you can do using some of your stock parts and making them look completely different.
2004 was the first year for the Gut-ya on the show circut and it won at every show it was shown at. It also gained Insight Customs a spot in the Metric bike building frenzy that was starting. We expanded our customers and our product line and started taking in bikes on a steady basis still working out of the same garage.
2005 brought us to a new level with a bunch of new customs on the street from us and people from all over letting us work on thier bikes at events we set up at and the Gut-ya bike featured in V-Twin magizine and making the cover. We are closing out 2005 at a brand new building with A/C and Heat, full service bays, fab area and our new retail store that opened in Dec. We have expanded to serve our clients better and will continue to do so in the future. We feel we bring the best to you as a company and pride ourselves as a bike shop that is honest and can work in a budget that you set. We don't care if you buy a shirt or have us build the bike of your dreams you will always be treated as a friend here, just as I was when I was just a guy with a bike from a little rural town in Indiana.
Equal rights for everyone, special treatment for no one!!
We don't care what you ride, just be careful. Ben Taylor, owner, Insight Customs Inc.
